Psalms "Simple or fundamental"?

The seemingly simple Psalms become much more understandable as you take a look at yourself in the mirror. I know sometimes people think oh I will just read the psalms because that will give me some encouragement or help me to praise God despite my situation. I find that the more I really apply the knowledge and wisdom of the Psalms to my daily life the more essential the book seems to be to my very existence.

BOOK I : Psalms 1:1-6
1 Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.

After my leave of absence/ abandoning of God, all of my friends who were sinning with me are totally trying to get me to be that guy. The one who won't say "NO", the one who will drink, or take in whatever anyone will put in front of them, the one who can talk to any girl or make anyone laugh no matter what he has to do to make it happen. Do I think they have my best interest in mind? Absolutely not. People who are in sin want those around them to be in sin and don't want to hear anything any different. I WILL NOT WALK IN THE COUNSEL OF THE WICKED! Sometimes I think we look at that and say, hmmm, who would do that anyway, i know better than to do that. Really? Every day we are solicited hundreds of times by brand names, people trying to sell you something and what are they trying to get you to say? YES! Yes I will buy into the lie that if i wear those jeans and that low cut top then that guy that drives that Aston Martin and lives in that mansion will find me attractive and maybe if I just give him what he wants then I can be "happy" with him as well living in his posh existence. Or Guys we buy the lie that if we just find the right girl, if we can hook up with that unattainable knock out, then we will be really happy. Or maybe it is success, approval, popularity, you fill in the blank with the fleeting insecurity your are trying to quench. We all have our pet sins. Wrong wrong wrong!

Ok well maybe your not doing that, are you standing in the way of sinners? Do you run after the things they run after? Think about it, what makes you content at the end of the day, is it what God wants or what you want? Do you delight in the law of the Lord? Meditate on it day and night, or do you only read it when you really need something, or your trying to teach someone else something?

2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

When someone chooses to be content with God, you see, he is unshakable, there will be ups and downs, but what he depends on is something, someone steadfast, eternal, all encompassing. He will prosper because he knows that even though he may fall, God remains a constant. Even when he is weak God is strong in his weakness and the Lord is glorified.

3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.

Men who long to be fulfilled by this world will continue to long for the rest of their lives, the eyes of a man are never satisfied. All they can see is more and more of what they don't have. Eventually, they will be dust again and will have attained only that which is temporary, what a waste! Their life is but a mist in the wind, what they strive for is worth nothing more than a useless stalk unfit to eat

4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.

The wicked have already chosen to lose, because they have placed their bet on something that is destined to be condemned, themselves. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus, All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

God is watching over us and we know that he works all things together for the good of those he loves. THE WICKED WILL PERISH:

To pass from existence; disappear gradually, To die or be destroyed, especially in a violent or untimely manner, PERISH

6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

Just some thoughts as I battle to re-establish myself as one who is striving to be righteous.
